Chateau de la Motte, built in the 16th and 18th centuries is elegant, roomy and comfortable. Together with its courtyard, outbuildings and a pigeonier, it is surrounded by a moat. Outside the moat, the parkland grounds, 17 acres in all, are a fine place for reflection, relaxing and having all sorts of fun. Near the house is a parterre , a hard tennis court and a heated pool enclosed by walls and the pool house and a trampoline. Beyond is woodland and parkland, with streams and a lake fed from the river Hozain which flows along the boundary. Wildlife abounds in this peaceful corner of rural France.
The domaine is on the edge of the village of Rumilly les Vaudes and a region of rolling hills, vast forests and vineyards (Champagne, Chablis, Irancy). The house is a five minute stroll from the village's bar tabac and beautiful church, a five minute drive from good restaurants (one with a Michelin star) shops, hairdressers etc.
Golf, riding and water skiing are all within fifteen minutes drive. The historic city of Troyes, awarded three stars by the Guide Michelin, is twenty kilometers away. Troyes abounds in restaurants, fine architecture and narrow mediaeval streets.
Chateau de la Motte is a family home, comfortable and elegant with many facilities. Experience has shown it to be a happy venue for extended or multiple families, reunions and big anniversaries, common interest get-togethers and even corporate reflective moments, ( for which facilities are available and catering can be provided).
It is an easy four-hour drive from Calais, yet in the heart of France.
